Life Or Death
Some people think of suicide
as a desire, courting death.
It’s not, it’s just the opposite
the aversion of another breath.

I think there is a big difference between wanting to die and not wanting to live, even though they can both have the same effect.
I suspect that many people who try, or commit suicide, want to live. They just aren't coping with their situations, see no useful way forward and end up in a cul-de-sac.
The reasons they aren't coping probably vary tremendously.
They must include malfunction or dysfunction of brain chemical processes. These can then produce distorted perceptions, reduced reasoning capabilities, aggravating physical disabilities and sleep deprivation.
All those affected by the loss of a loved one through suicide deserve sympathy. They invariably think or feel that they have contributed, if not caused, the act. The truth is probably that the event would have happened whatever they had done. Nobody is psychic, and psychic powers are what is required to prevent being in the situation where you use hindsight .
Many doctors miss the signs of the symptoms of the illnesses which can lead to suicidal acts.
